If we had to summerize the trip in England in one favorite moment, we would say that it was during our visit to Cambridge.

Having spent a day to explore the city under a sunny sky, to visit the Whipple Museum and finally attend to a conference dealing with chemistry and more specifically about gases given in Cambrigde University.

Indeed, it was very interesting because uncommon in France. We have seen several surprising experiments on the combustion of gases. We find it very playful to learn chemistry.

Especially, thanks to our European section lessons, we could understand well what the teacher said. So we think that it was an excellent idea to discover England throughout Sciences.

Within the framework of the European Section, we made a trip in England on the last week of March.

We spend much of our time in London where we stayed in a nice youth hotel. We landed in London late at night, we had a really beautiful first impression of the city, glowing in the dark, the snow and the excitation making us feel like children. The weather was very cold but we had a great time visiting the city. We made the most of an exhibition at the National Gallery where were displayed paintings of famous artists such as Van Gogh, Monet or Seurat (Picture below) among others.

Seurat, pointillism painter.

which is characterized by the application of paint in small dots and brush strokes visible only if you stand close to the painting.

We also attended to an Irish concert in Trafalgar Square for the Saint-Patrick, people were dancing and singing all around us, we really enjoyed this funny experience !

We visited lots of beautiful and singular places like the rooftop of the Modern Tate offering an amazing view of the city, the snow-covered paths of Regent’s Park or the odd shops of Camden Town’s Horse Tunnel Market.

We also spent a day in Cambridge where we attended to a scientific conference about gas. Boring, you said ? Absolutely not ! It was a mind-blowing show which captivated adults and children alike.

This trip was a really good way to discover British culture and heritage, and the scientific aspect completed the schedule very well. This trip gave us the opportunity to have a real contact with English speaking people, allowing us to improve our English, and even if it was not always easy, everybody made progress at the end of the week.

It was also an experience we lived with our mates, friends and teachers, it forged bonds by sharing those great moments together. I think we’ll all keep good memories of this trip, great photos and the wish to come back !
