Club Débat en anglais : Debat school

Last week, Friday, March 17th, at the debate club we talked about the school and how it can be improved.

First we mentioned the differences between middle school and high school, for us high school is better because we can choose the subjects that we want to study whereas in middle school we study everything and that can be the reason of some students’ difficulties. We also said that our school system with marks is not good for everyone because it can be motivating but really stressful for some students so we should try the “skills system”, which is already used by some teachers in France, because there is too much competition with our system. But that’s necessary for schools after high school because without marks they don’t know how to select students. The other problem with these schools is that some specific schools are really expensive because they are the only ones to teach a specific subject. To finish we said that to improve our system we should do more orientation, reduce holidays to reduce our school days and do activities at school because, for some students, going to school is like going to prison.
